Mobile and the app
Cliedesk works on phones, tablets and computers in the browser. You can also install it as an app. Everyone with access to Cliedesk can do this.
Install the app
The helpdesk at /desk is an installable web app. There is no separate app in an app store.
- Chrome or Edge (Android, Windows, macOS): open
/desk, then choose Install in the browser’s address bar or menu. - Safari on iPhone or iPad: open
/desk, select Share, then Add to Home Screen.
The app opens in its own window with the Cliedesk icon. You sign in with your normal WordPress account.
If the network is down, the app shows You are offline and a Try again button. Your unsent drafts stay on the device.
Work on a phone
The phone layout has the same actions as the computer. Every button on a conversation on a computer is also on a phone. Your role and permissions are the same on every device.
To change your status on a phone, open My status and pick a status such as Online or Away. Routing uses the new status at once. See Agent statuses.
Reply without a network
If you lose the connection while you write, Cliedesk keeps your reply or note on the device. When you are online again, it sends it once. You see Messages written offline were sent.
If the conversation changed while you were offline, for example the customer wrote again, Cliedesk holds your reply. You see Your reply is on hold and the new messages. Then choose:
- Send anyway to send your reply as it is.
- Edit to put the reply back in the composer.
- Discard to delete the reply.
A reply kept on the device is sent the next time you open the app online.
Counter in the WordPress admin bar
When you are signed in to WordPress, the admin bar shows the number of your open conversations that are unread. A dot means one of them needs attention (with Cliedesk Pro: an SLA target at risk or missed). Select the counter to open the inbox. Only people with access to Cliedesk see it.
Limits of the web app
- On iPhone and iPad, push notifications work only after you add the app to the Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later).
- Some security plugins block the app’s offline page or push notifications. Setup Health shows this.
For notifications on your device, see Notifications.
